Pomellato

Pomellato was founded in 1967 by Pino Rabolini in his native home, Milan. From its conception the brand endorses a revolutionary goal: Rabolini wanted to create pret-a-porter (ready-to-wear) jewellery without sacrificing quality. He recognised the shift in society in the post war period and how women’s dresses (and their jewellery) was becoming less formal. Pomellato jewellery embodies the joie-de-vivre of the cocktail party era executed with the same artistry and care of high fine jewellery.

In this way the brand took the first step in straddling the void between ‘costume’ and ‘fine’ jewellery. They supplied women with high quality ‘pret-a-porter’ jewellery they could buy for themselves and enjoy wearing from morning to evening. This liberated jewellery for women. With Pomellato, the woman had a rainbow of choice, but was not reliant on a man to buy a piece for her. As the company’s first female CEO, Sabina Belli, explains the firm’s ethos: “”Pomellato for women” we like to say”.

The business remained family owned until 2013 when it joined the Kering Group. Pomellato then expanded rapidly; with twenty stores being opened over the next three years in, Europe, China and the USA.

In 2015 Kering appointed Pomellato’s first female CEO, Sabina Belli. Under her guidance the company has become a pioneer in eco-conscious jewellery production. Pomellato invests in the traceability of coloured stones and fair trade gold in the production of their contemporary collections.

Pomellato celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2017 and continues to produce high quality jewellery sold internationally.

 Style/Major Collections

As the son of an Italian goldsmith, Rabolini understood the subtle, yet broad tones achievable within gold and created the brand’s signature alloy of warm rose gold. He relished the play of colours, matching this warm pink tinged gold, with a rainbow of bright coloured gems. He was also unafraid to place precious gems alongside semi-precious stones for bold colour combinations.

Pomellato pieces are instantly recognisable for their rainbow of semi-precious gemstones often accented with the glitter of white diamonds. Stones included in Pomellato pieces are typically cut in the house’s signature square cut with rounded edges and faceted as seen in the Nudo collection of solitaire rings. This simple, but recognisable, signature design makes the perfect canvas for colours: from gold yellow citrines to pastel pink rose quartz, deep purple amethysts, or blue topaz, turquoise and tourmaline.

The desires and demands required of jewellery of the modern professional women are put in first place at Pomellato. Pomellato’s high quality jewellery can accompany a modern women throughout the multi-faceted occasions in her life: from the school drop off, the board room or a dinner party.
