Frascarolo

Pierino Frascarolo was born in Milan 1928. from a young age he apprenticed with the Fratelli Lunati Company. He later founded his own firm producing jewellery with his partner Aldo Lenti.

By 1948 Frascarolo and Lenti had established a themselves as makers of fine jewellery. In this year they moved the production of their jewellery to a factory in Corso Matteotti.

Elite Jeweller

During the 1960s Frascarolo designed some of his most iconic pieces, placing him in elite circles of mid century jewellery.

In 1970 Frascarolo split from Lenti, ending their partnership.

Frascarolo then moved to New York, launching Frascarolo & Co. and opened a shop on 5th avenue with his new partner Adriano Gugliada. Unfortunately, Frascarolo died prematurely in 1978: he was only 48.

David Webb of Italy

Frascarolo has been dubbed the ‘David Webb of Italy’. Like Webb, Frascarolo died somewhat prematurely. Thus leaving the haunting question of what else could have been created if they had lived for another two decades. Frascarolo, like Webb, took exotic animals as his key creative motif. He created a vivid menagerie of wild animal bracelets, brooches and earrings using enamel and gemstones harmoniously to depict the unique stripes of tigers or zebra.

The theatre of the circus lies within Frascarolo’s fierce designs. From lion ear clips with flaming mains to his iconic zebra bangles. The limited number of pieces created within Frascarolo’s career have made them highly collectable on the secondary market. A now iconic zebra bangle was sold at Christie’s for $14,621.
